The main ideas that Pullmanism and the Pullmetic Fellowship is founded on come from the His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman. From the idea of Dæmons to the war against the Authority. Practically everything contained within the pages of these novels is treated with the same reverence as every passage within the Holy Bible or Torah. These books, alongside the sequel trilogy The Book of Dust, supplementary materials such as Serpentine, Lyra's Jordan, Once Upon A Time In The North, and The Collectors and information added on through various revelations and predictions, make up the bulk of Pullmetic Lore. These books are considered important reading for any prospective members of the Fellowship whether they're Pullmetic or of another faith.

It is important to note that adaptations of these books are not considered to be canonical to Pullmetic lore. The Golden Compass (2007), HBO's His Dark Materials (2019-2022), the various graphic novels, and other adaptations are not to be treated as alternatives to reading the books themselves. This is because other writers and creatives are involved in the making of those adaptations, so it is a step removed from Pullman's original work. The Golden Compass (2007) is the most egregious example of this problem, as many aspects of the story were changed to make it less controversial. HBO's adaptation is much more faithful to the original books and is considered acceptable as supplementary material but not as a replacement as it still changes many relevant details. Audiobooks are considered equal to the books in text as there aren't any of the changes that exist in other adaptations.
If you cannot afford to get your own copy of the trilogy, it is alright to skip out on reading it. While these books are considered our version of holy scripture, we cannot control one's ability to partake in it and therefore have no right to punish those who do not read them. We plan on implementing some sort of system in order to give out free copies of the books once the funds are available to do so, but that is not something currently possible. If you cannot afford copies of the books or audiobooks it is fine to watch the HBO adaptation. Remember however that it is not entirely accurate and also lacks a lot of the background information provided by the books. We do not advise pirating copies of any of Pullman's books both because of the illegality of it and also because it is deeply disrespectful towards him as an author to do so. We are not liable for the activities of those outside the fellowship and cannot be held responsible for someone's decision to go against this.
